Introducing the Sizzlers Fiddle Group!
The Sizzlers Fiddle Group has been playing together for the past 6 years under the guidance of founder & director Amy Florence Paster. This group of eighteen young, talented violinists range in age from 8 to 18 years old. Creative rehearsals consist of time to 'jam' on newly learned tunes, improvise, create and prepare performances in an energetic environment which nourishes the uniqueness of the group.
Influenced by groups such as Les Yeux Noirs, Barrage, Veretski Pass, and many others, the Sizzlers play tunes rooted in Celtic, Klezmer and Traditional fiddle music along with many improvised and self composed works.
Enjoyed by audiences of all ages the Sizzlers Fiddle Group are students at the Amati String Studio, Vancouver's only specialty music school for the study of stringed instruments. Each performer in this group trains classically in the Royal Conservatory Examination system, in addition to playing fiddle music & performing in the group.
This energetic, young, talented performance group from Vancouver BC participates in community outreach by performing locally at public performances including outdoor markets, festivals, special events at local schools, fundraising for charity events, retirement homes, and by request at private functions. They are currently preparing for their upcoming Halifax, Cape Breton and PEI tour this summer.
In 2011, a Victoria group has now been established.
